Sant Waryam Singh Akal Birdh Ashram

Sant Waryam Singh Akal Birdh Ashram

This old age care home which is named AKAL BIRDH ASHRAM was built by a single styled AKAL TRUST Chandigarh. Its foundation stone was led by Mata Ranjit Kaur Ji on 12.07.2009. On completion, it was inaugurated by S. Parkash Singh Badal, CM Punjab on 17.06.2010, the day of birth of His Holiness Baba Waryam Singh Ji Maharaj.
A sort of agreement was entered into about which S. Harcharan Singh of Akal Trust writes in Atam Marg.

The newly built building can easily accommodate 50 inmates - every room has an attached bathroom, there are living rooms for the staff, kitchen and langar hall,  a common entertainment room, medical block and there are metalled walkways for walking. There is a hall with a big T.V. screen in it. It has books, journals, magazines and newpapers; the langar place is very neat and clean; easy chairs provide required relief  to old and sick. There are coloured lights in a fountain - a kind of kaleidoscope - a feast for the eyes. The map was especially got made by an architect.

An inmate should be above 65 years of age to be eligible of entry. He should be a teetotallers, not using any intoxicant and poor belonging to any community, religion or region.
The 'SWS Akal Birdh Ashram' received so much hype that the then Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh wrote  to VGRMCT to say that he wanted to see for himself the Ashram and meet the family of those who have offered to do this commendable and unique service. But for reasons of security, the idea of his visit was dropped.. But he did send his wife Gursharan Kaur who saw everything for herself and paid her respects at Gurudwara Isher Parkash, Ratwara Sahib.
